Gitxsan High School Students Win Bronze
31 May 2003

Gali Aks Gitxsan

Three Hazelton Secondary students won the bronze medal at a national aboriginal entrepreneurship competition sponsored by the Business Development
Bank of Canada. The E-Spirit team of Cecilia Morgan, Khym Yunkws and Anthony Vickers had ten minutes to present their business plan "Hiking Gitksan History"
to a panel of judges and fellow participants at Dalhousie University in Halifax. Next day the students had the opportunity to showcase their business at a trade show where the team had a booth complete with smoked salmon, dried seaweed, Gitksan artwork and photos. During a gala celebration at the World Trade Centre the Hazelton team was awarded third place out of more than sixty-five entrants from across Canada. Micmac dancers and actor Tom Jackson provided the entertainment. The team had an opportunity to do some fantastic sightseeing thanks to Mr. Stewart's family and former teacher Craig Smith who fed them
delicious lobster he had caught that day.
